In 2022-23 four local area hockey clubs; Harwood, Northfield, Barre, and Montpelier, combined to create Central Vermont Black Bears Hockey.   The merger created many different levels of team at each different age group.  We had a very successful first year!

The BYSA Inc Board does have a BYSA hockey committee that has members that serve on the Black Bears Hockey Board.  The director of this is Dave Lawerence.

Eric Hutchins passed away suddenly in June of 2012. He was an avid hockey player growing up.  In honor of his love of the game, friends and family come together each year and host a pond hockey style tournament to honor his memory.  All proceeds from the tournament  provide scholarships to Barre hockey families who face financial hardship, so their children can have a chance to play Eric's favorite game.  

Applications for the scholarship are made available beginning at the CVYH registration, however they are accepted on a rolling basis and scholarships are awarded based on the number of applications per year and funding available.
